Data protection

CLAAS KGaA mbH (hereinafter "CLAAS"), as operator of the CLAAS website, takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. CLAAS would like you to know when we collect data, what data we collect, and how we use it. CLAAS implements appropriate technical and organisational steps to ensure that legislation governing data protection is complied with both by CLAAS itself, and by external service providers that act on behalf of CLAAS.

Data protection notice

All web systems under the management of CLAAS are compliant with applicable statutory provisions for the protection of personal data and data security. CLAAS takes steps to protect personal data from loss, deletion, falsification, manipulation and unauthorised access. Below, CLAAS explains how it deals with information collected when visitors access the CLAAS KGaA mbH website.

Collection and processing of personal data

Personal data is information that concerns the personal or objective circumstances of a specific or identifiable individual. This includes all information that can be used to determine your identity, e.g. your name, address, postal address and telephone number. Information that cannot be linked to your identity (such as statistical data concerning the use of websites) is not considered personal data. In general, you can use the website of CLAAS without disclosing your identity.

If you request information from CLAAS, you will be asked for your name and other personal details. Entering this data is entirely voluntary. For certain actions, such as requesting information brochures, some details are mandatory. "Mandatory fields" are indicated by an asterisk. Where additional details are requested in fields that are not identified as mandatory fields, submission of this information is voluntary.

Storage of your personal data

Your information is stored by CLAAS on specially protected servers. Through appropriate technical and organisational means, data on these servers is protected against loss, destruction, access, modification or sharing by unauthorised persons. Access to your data is restricted to a small number of authorised persons only. Such persons are responsible for the technical, business or editorial support of servers. Despite regular checks, however, it is not possible to guarantee complete protection against all possible risks.

The transfer online of website data and of your details on the web pages of CLAAS is generally not encrypted. It may therefore be possible for third parties to view and/or access transferred data. CLAAS recommends that you bear this in mind when deciding whether and what data to transmit online. For portals that are subject to separate registration and login, CLAAS uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption for data transfer where possible.

Use and passing on of personal data

CLAAS uses your personal data exclusively for the purposes of responding to your enquiries and/or processing your requests, and for the technical administration of its websites. Where you have given CLAAS your express consent for marketing activities, CLAAS will also use your data for marketing purposes as indicated. CLAAS will not pass on your data to third parties for any other purpose, in particular advertising, without your express consent. Where CLAAS is bound by law or judicial degree, it may pass on your data to the relevant requesting departments or organisations.

Analysis of user data

When visiting the CLAAS website, some general information is collected automatically (e.g. internet browser used, number of visits, average duration of visit, pages viewed). This information is used to improve the appeal, content and functionality of the website. Such data in particular may be statistically recorded and analysed.

CLAAS also uses cookies on its website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your web browser. Cookies are often used to make a website more user-friendly and more effective. They are required for technical reasons, for example, in order for features such as shopping carts to function. CLAAS uses "session cookies" that are deleted when you close your browser session. Some persistent cookies are also used to enable CLAAS to recognise you on your next visit.

Most web browsers are set up to accept cookies automatically. You can, however, deactivate the saving of cookies or configure your web browser to notify you when cookies are sent.

Links to other websites

This website contains links to other providers that are not covered by this privacy policy. When leaving the CLAAS website, we recommend that you read carefully the data protection guidelines of any linked websites that collect personal data. For example, the CLAAS website contains links to the CLAAS fan page on Facebook, YouTube and Google+. In the case of such links, unlike the social plug-in, no data is transmitted to the operators of these social networks. Clicking on the corresponding link instead opens the CLAAS fan page on Facebook in a new window.

Information and deleting your data

You have the right to be informed of any data we store concerning you, and, if applicable, to instruct that this be amended, blocked or deleted accordingly. If your address data such as postcode, e-mail or postal address have changed, you can notify CLAAS by e-mail at infoclaas(at)claas.com to have the data corrected or updated. Otherwise, please contact the data protection officer at CLAAS in relation to the above rights.
